Japan's Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa began her multi-national tour on Friday to visit the US, Canada, Türkiye and five other nations.
During her two-week long tour, which will continue till Jan. 18, she will visit Washington to meet her counterpart Antony Blinken, before Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's expected state visit to the US in March later this year.
After her trip to North America, Kamikawa will visit Türkiye, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, and Germany.
The ministry said the trip is aimed at "promoting cooperation and to strengthen free and open global order based on the rule of law."
