ANKARA (AA) - Javier Mascherano was appointed as the head coach of Argentina under 20 football team, the Argentine Football Association said.
The announcement came after the former Argentina captain met the association's president, Claudio Tapia, on Thursday.
The 37-year-old will take charge in January 2022, and will be assisted by Pablo Blanco and Oscar Hernandez Romero.
The second-most capped player in Argentina after Lionel Messi, the former midfielder scored three goals in 147 matches.
