ANKARA (AA) - Manchester City said on Monday they completed the signing of Julian Alvarez from Argentine club River Plate.
The 22-year-old forward signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Sky Blues, a statement said, adding that the Argentine will remain with River on loan at least until July 2022.
“I am so happy we have managed to bring him to Manchester City," said the English club's Director of Football Txiki Begiristain. "I really believe we can provide him with the right conditions to fulfil his potential and become a top player.”
Alvarez produced 36 goals and 25 assists in his 96 appearances for River Plate.
He has five international caps for Argentina, and was part of the squad that won the Copa America in July.
"Everyone at Manchester City is looking forward to welcoming Julián to the club and we wish him the best of luck in his remaining time with River," the statement added.
