ISTANBUL (AA) - Juventus on Friday announced the return of Massimiliano Allegri as head coach after the Italian football club sacked Andrea Pirlo.
"Allegri finds a bench that he knows very well, a club that he loves and that loves him back, as today a new journey begins together, towards new goals," Juventus said in a statement.
"We said goodbye two years ago with the message, ‘History Alone’, the message on the back of the shirt given to Massimiliano Allegri by President Andrea Agnelli with an embrace and a shirt, on which in just two words encapsulated Allegri's experience at Juve," it added.
Allegri, who returned to Turin football side for a second spell, managed Juventus from 2014 to 2019 as he led the club to win five Serie A titles.
Under the helm of Allegri, Juventus played two UEFA Champions League final (2015 and 2017), where they lost to Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.
Italian manager Pirlo was sacked by the Turin club today after disappointing results this season.
