ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish manufacturing company Karmod has introduced new polyethylene silo storage tanks designed to enhance the safe storage of chemicals used in industrial production, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The polyethylene tanks play a critical role in safely storing both production chemicals and hazardous waste, the company said.
Talay Ozturk, the general manager of Karmod's Plastics Group, highlighted that the tanks can store chemicals, including acids, at temperatures up to 60 degrees Celsius.
Ozturk emphasized that the tanks can be reinforced depending on the chemical properties of the materials being stored.
"The primary applications for these tanks are twofold," Ozturk said. "First, they are used to store various production chemicals such as glycerin, glucose, detergent, and sulfonic acid (LABSA). Second, they provide a safe and environmentally sound solution for storing hazardous liquid waste generated after production. Their conical design ensures complete drainage with zero residue."
Ozturk added that the tanks are known for their long-lasting durability and economic advantages, making them a preferred choice in the industry.
He also noted that the polyethylene used in the tank production is fully recyclable, contributing to sustainable environmental practices.
The silo tanks are available in various capacities, ranging from 1,000 liters to 20 tons, and can be interconnected to create larger storage systems as needed, according to Ozturk.
"The tanks can also be equipped with mixers and pneumatic stirrers for easy processing of liquid food products or chemical mixtures. The polyethylene raw materials used in these tanks comply with US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) food safety standards, ensuring safe storage for a variety of liquids," he added.
