NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan (AA) – Kazakhstan has received 380,000 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine, the country’s Health Ministry said on Thursday.
This is the first shipment of 4 million doses purchased by Kazakhstan and will be used to vaccinate children over the age of 12 and pregnant women, according to a ministry statement.
Government figures show more than 8.4 million people have been given a first vaccine shot in Kazakhstan so far, while over 7.7 million are fully vaccinated.
The country has recorded more than 1.03 million COVID-19 cases to date, including a death toll of over 17,300, according to data from the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
