ISTANBUL (AA) – Kazakhstan and Italy on Monday agreed to strengthen military cooperation, particularly in education and scientific research, following high-level talks between Kazakh Defense Minister Ruslan Zhakssylykov and his Italian counterpart Guido Crosetto, the Kazakh Defense Ministry said.

During the visit to Italy’s Defense Ministry, Zhakssylykov emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to international peacekeeping efforts, highlighting the participation of Kazakhstani officers in the UN Interim Force in Lebanon under Italy’s command.

The discussions focused on military education, combat training, and peacekeeping operations.

The two ministers signed a memorandum on academic cooperation and scientific research, establishing new collaboration pathways between Kazakhstan’s National Defense University and the Center for Higher Defense Studies of the Italian Armed Forces General Staff.
