ANKARA (AA) - Kenya’s government spokesman Cyrus Oguna announced Friday he has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Recently, having come from an assignment outside town, I developed mild coronavirus related symptoms & got tested. The results came back positive for Coronavirus and I am now receiving medical care and responding well to treatment at an isolation and treatment facility,” he said in a tweet.
So far, some 15,601 people have been infected by the virus in Kenya while 263 people died, according to data compiled by the U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.
Since first appearing in Wuhan, China last December, the virus has spread to at least 188 countries and regions.
The pandemic has killed more than 624,100 people worldwide, with over 15.25 million confirmed cases and nearly 8.7 million recoveries, the data shows.
