ISTANBUL (AA) - Sarah Chepchirchir has been banned for eight years after being found to have violated anti-doping standards, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Wednesday.
"The AIU has banned Sarah Chepchirchir (Kenya) for 8 years from 22 December 2023 for the Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Testosterone)," AIU said in a statement.
The Athletics Integrity Unit reported that the sample was taken during the Bangsaen42 Chonburi Marathon in Chonburi, Thailand, in November.
Chepchirchir, 39, who won the Tokyo Marathon in 2017, was previously banned for four years in 2019 due to abnormalities in her athlete blood passport.
