ANKARA (AA) - Kenyan athletes Peres Jepchirchir and Albert Korir won women's and men's titles respectively in the 50th New York City Marathon on Sunday.

Jepchirchir is an Olympic gold winner, while Korir is a runner-up of the 2019 NYC Marathon. It was his maiden victory in one of the World Marathon Majors.

The second-oldest of world marathons, the annual long-distance running race was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, the field was cut to around 30,000 runners as a precautionary measure.
