ANKARA (AA) - Kenyan runner Amos Kipruto and Ethiopian athlete Yalemzerf Yehualaw were the winners of the 2022 London Marathon held on Sunday.
In the men's category, Kipruto completed the 42.1-kilometer (26.1-mile) marathon in two hours, four minutes and 39 seconds.
Leul Gebresilase of Ethiopia was 33 seconds behind Kipruto to finish second, while Belgian athlete Bashir Abdi came in third.
Meanwhile, Yehualaw was the winner in the women's category with a time of two hours, 17 minutes and 26 seconds.
The 2021 London Marathon gold medalist Joyciline Jepkosgei from Kenya completed the race in second spot with a time of two hours, 18 minutes and seven seconds.
Ethiopian athlete Alemu Megertu finished third.
Since 2006, the London race has been one of the six major marathons alongside Tokyo, Boston, Berlin, Chicago and New York.
The upcoming major contest will be held in Chicago on Oct. 9.
