BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Kosovo police seized a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and military equipment during a search Tuesday in the town of Zvecan, a part of North Kosovo, in a region with an ethnic Serb majority.
Police said firearms, hand grenades, and uniforms were found buried on the grounds of a private home.
Senior police officer Veton Elsani told reporters that the house was raided in the morning and an assault rifle was found and a cache of weapons.
Police seized four hand grenades, two automatic rifles, six frames with automatic rifle ammunition, 335 bullets, military body armor, four military jackets, two tactical vests and two gas masks in three plastic barrels in the ground.
After receiving the information, police units carried out a search on the street Kralj Petri in Zvecan. During the inspection, three plastic jars (barrels) were found buried in the ground, in which there were military uniforms, AK47 weapons, hand grenades and cartridges,” police said in a statement.
