PRISTINA, Kosovo (AA) - Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti declared his party’s victory in the country’s general election Sunday, with 73% of the votes counted.
His ruling part Vetevendosje party secured 41.99% of the vote, according to preliminary results.
Kurti, speaking at his party’s headquarters, said: “We are the winners, and this is confirmation of a good, prosperous and democratic government.”
He later celebrated with supporters in central Pristina.
According to the country's Central Election Commission, Vetevendosje is in the lead with 41.99%, followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) with 22.68%, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with 17.90%, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) with 7.56%.
Although Vetevendosje holds the top spot, it is unlikely to secure a majority to form a government alone.
Official results have not been confirmed, as there are technical delays in the vote counting process.
