ISTANBUL (AA) - The Kremlin on Wednesday confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been interviewed by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who announced his visit to Moscow a day before.

“Yes, I can confirm this. As soon as it is prepared, it will come out,” spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in a press briefing in Moscow.

“I didn't want to jump ahead: after all, this is his interview, so when he's ready to publish it, he'll probably tell you all the details first,” Peskov said, declining to give further details.

He said Carlson's approach differs from others, which are “exclusively one-sided.”

“Of course, there is no desire to communicate with such mass [Western] media, and it is unlikely that there is any sense in it, it is unlikely that there can be any benefit from it,” Peskov added.

Late Tuesday, Carlson announced in a video post on X that he will interview Putin, which will be the first one-on-one interview with a Western journalist since Russia’s “special military operation” in Ukraine two years ago.

He said "there are risks to conducting an interview like this," but "our duty is to inform people." According to him, most Americans "are not informed" about the war in Ukraine, which is "reshaping the entire world."
