BAGHDAD (AA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced on Tuesday that the central government has begun receiving a daily oil revenue of 55,000 barrels from the Kurdish Regional Government, which will also deliver its non-oil revenues to Baghdad.
After a weekly Cabinet meeting, Sudani told journalists in a press conference that oil exports from northern Iraq have stopped due to the halt in exports through the Ceyhan Pipeline.
“We have received the monthly budget from the Kurdish Regional Government. The KRG has begun delivering its daily oil revenues of 55,000 barrels to the Ministry of Finance of the central government. Additionally, the regional government will deposit its non-oil revenues into a bank account affiliated with the central government,” he said.
Sudani said Baghdad and Erbil are committed to the agreement to “deliver oil and non-oil revenues to the central government.”
He mentioned that the Iraqi government imports natural gas from Iran in exchange for crude oil.
