KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait (AA) – A minor tennis player from Kuwait has refused to play against an Israeli opponent in the Dubai Tennis Championships' semifinals, local media said on Saturday.
According to daily Al-Watan, Mohammad Al-Awadi withdrew from the Dubai Tennis Championships U-14 semifinals once he found out that he would confront an Israeli player.
Kuwaiti MP Osama Al-Shaheen congratulated Al-Awadi for his decision.
The Dubai Tennis Championships started on Jan. 17 as 300 players from 50 countries are competing in six different minor age categories.
