ANKARA (AA) – Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios on Friday announced that he will not participate in the 2024 Australian Open.
“This is a very disappointing time for me, but I won't be able to compete at the 2024 Australian Open,” the 28-year-old said in a post on social media. “Obviously, heartbreaking. I've had so many amazing memories there.”
This will mark his second time bowing out from his home Grand Slam as he missed the 2023 competition due to a knee injury.
Kyrgios added that he needs a little more time and he wants to make sure that his body is going to have the time it needs to come back.
Nick Kyrgios, who bagged the 2022 Australian Open men's doubles title with compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis, lost the 2022 Wimbledon Men's Singles final to Serbian legend Novak Djokovic.
