ANKARA (AA) — Real Betis fans set a new record by collecting 20,000 toys during halftime of Sunday’s La Liga soccer match against Rayo Vallecano, all destined for children in need.
The Benito Villamarín Stadium was filled with stuffed animals, which will be distributed through the club's Social Area and Foundation as part of their Christmas celebrations.
The total, including toys donated at a pre-match collection point, surpassed the previous record of 19,000 set in 2021.
Betis, which drew 1-1 with Vallecano, currently sit ninth in La Liga with 25 points.
