ANKARA (AA) – Latvia beat reigning champions Spain 74-69 in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Second Round Group L match on Friday.

Latvia came back from 11 points behind in the fourth quarter.

Davis Bertans, who sparked the first light of the comeback with a three-pointer, led Latvia with 16 points.

"We really don't care who is going to be the top scorer and who is going to take the most shots," Bertans said, adding that "we're just gonna let the game come to us and whatever the other team gives to us, whether it's Zagars, Grazulis, Smits. We have had different players going off in each game. That's the biggest weapon we have."

Spain's Willy Hernangomez finished the game with 14 points and 4 rebounds.

Latvia top Group L with 7 points, while Spain are placed second with 7 points.
