Lebanese Hezbollah says 3 more members killed in clash with Israeli army

Tensions escalate in southern Lebanon with 30 Hezbollah casualties since Oct. 8

BEIRUT (AA) - The Hezbollah Movement in Lebanon Tuesday announced that three more members of the group lost their lives in clashes with the Israeli army.

A statement by the group provided no more details.

Meanwhile, an Israeli army's statement mentioned that it launched an attack on a cell located in the Sheba Farms in southern Lebanon, claiming that the cell was attempting to launch rockets towards Israel.

Lebanon's official news agency NNA also reported that Israeli warplanes bombed the center of the "Green Without Borders," affiliated with Hezbollah, in two regions in the southernmost part of the country.

Since Oct. 8, Hezbollah has been engaged in clashes with Israel along the southern border of Lebanon, and they have lost a total of 30 members so far.

Border clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces followed the conflict in Gaza, which has been under Israeli bombardment and a blockade since Oct. 7. The war began when the Palestinian group Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a multi-pronged surprise attack that included a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea and air.

It said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and growing violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.

The Israeli military then launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip has climbed to 5,087, the Health Ministry in the blockaded enclave said. “The fatalities include 2,055 children, 1,119 women and 217 elders,” the ministry said, adding 15,273 people were also injured.

More than 1,400 Israelis have been killed in Hamas attacks since Oct. 7, according to Israeli authorities.
