Lebanese soldier injured in Israeli drone strike despite cease-fire

Drone hits army bulldozer in Hermel in eastern Lebanon, according to local media

BEIRUT (AA) - A Lebanese soldier was injured in an Israeli drone strike in Hermel in eastern Lebanon on Monday despite a cease-fire deal, Lebanese media said.

A drone hit a Lebanese bulldozer while carrying out some work inside the Abbara military site in the Hosh Sayyed Ali-Hermel area, the state news agency NNA reported.

The attack came shortly after the army said that the body of a Lebanese officer who had been unaccounted for since Nov. 26 after an Israeli airstrike was found in Naqoura town in southern Lebanon.

On Nov. 27, a cease-fire agreement between Lebanon and Israel took effect, ending over 14 months of fighting between the Israeli army and Hezbollah.

More than 3,960 people have been killed and more than 16,500 injured in Israeli attacks in Lebanon and over 1 million displaced since October last year, according to Lebanese health authorities.
