BEIRUT (AA) - A Lebanese woman died from injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon four days ago, Lebanon’s National News agency reported Saturday.
“Citizen Alya Abdul Karim succumbed to her injuries after being wounded in a strike carried out by a hostile drone on Yarin town, belonging to the district of Tyre, in the southern province, days ago,” it said.
An Israeli drone fired a missile at a house Tuesday in Yarin, resulting in injuries to the head of the victim who was subsequently taken to the hospital.
The number of civilian fatalities in Lebanon since Oct. 8 has risen to 67, in addition to 267 members of Hezbollah, 17 from the Amal Movement, 13 from Islamic Jihad, 13 from Hamas, a soldier in the army and one member of the Internal Security Forces.
Israel said 18 civilians and soldiers were killed in border clashes.
Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of weapons fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The escalation comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed more than 33,100 Palestinians following a Hamas attack on Oct. 7.
