7 people killed in Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon on Wednesday

BEIRUT (AA) – The Lebanese government said Thursday it will file a complaint against Israel at the UN Security Council over a deadly drone strike that killed at least seven people.

An Israeli drone struck a residential building in Nabatieh in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, following a barrage of rockets that killed one person in northern Israel.

In a statement, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned “the prolonged Israeli aggression against southern Lebanon and the new massacres it is committing against Lebanese citizens.”

Mikati said he asked his foreign minister to file a new complaint against Israel at the UN Security Council.

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed more than 28,650 people following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.
