BEIRUT (AA) – Lebanon’s Hezbollah group said Thursday it fired a volley of Katyusha rockets and incendiary ammunition at settlements in northern Israel.
The group said the attack on Kiryat Shmona settlement was “in response to Israeli attacks targeting civilians and homes in southern Lebanon.”
“Hezbollah will not tolerate any attack on our civilians, towns and villages,” the group added in a statement.
Lebanon’s Official News Agency earlier reported that a woman was killed in an Israeli attack on a house in the town of Maroun al-Ras in southern Lebanon.
At least 26 civilians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanese border towns since Oct. 8, according to official figures.
Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
