ANKARA (AA) – Bayer Leverkusen continued their flawless run in the German Bundesliga with a 3-0 win against Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Werder Bremen took off to a nightmare start as Olivier Deman put the ball into his own goal in the ninth minute and marked an unlucky Bundesliga club record of 66 own goals for the Bremen side.
Jeremie Frimpong's good shot to the top corner made it 2-0 for Leverkusen before the first half ended.
After Marvin Ducksch's possible goal was denied by a video assistant referee decision in the 63rd minute, Alex Grimaldo netted the third goal for Leverkusen, which marked his seventh this season, in the 76th minute.
Bayer Leverkusen awarded a perfect birthday present with a record marking victory, as they managed to score at least two goals in the first 12 Bundesliga games, to their young Spanish boss Xabi Alonso on Nov. 25.
Bayer Leverkusen have kept their top spot with 34 points, as Bayern Munich, which have kept an undefeated run so far as well, follow them from two points behind.
