ANKARA (AA) - Tianjin Binhai library, touted as the Eye of Binhai, in China’s northeastern port city of Tianjin will offer 1.2 million books for its visitors, according to China’s state-owned Xinhua news agency.
The library, the distinctive feature of which is its eye-shaped literal and symbolic center, is the product of the Dutch firm MVRDV in collaboration with the Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute (TUPDI).
Located in the cultural center of Tianjin Binhai New Area, the library covers an area of 33,700 square meters (8 acres).
Tianjin Binhai library was inaugurated earlier in October and includes educational facilities, service spaces, book storage, archives, computer rooms, audio rooms, an auditorium, lounge areas, meeting rooms, offices, general reading areas.
