ISTANBUL (AA) – The average life expectancy at birth for Turkish citizens fell to 77.3 years in the 2021-2023 period, down from 77.5 years in the 2020-2022 period, official data revealed on Wednesday.
Women live 5.3 years longer than men on average in Türkiye, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
While the life expectancy at birth for women fell from 80.3 to 80 years in the 2021-2023 period, men’s figure slightly decreased from 74.8 to 74.7 in the same period.
“The average remaining life expectancy of the persons at the age of 15, the beginning of working age, was 63.5 years,” it said.
The average remaining life expectancy at age 30 stood at 49.1 years, at age 50 it was 30.1 years, and at age 65 it was 17.4 years.
