ANKARA (AA) - Liverpool on Saturday settled for a goalless draw with Chelsea at home in week 21 of the English Premier League.

Chelsea began the game fast and German midfielder Kai Havertz netted a goal in the 3rd minute but it was overturned by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) at Anfield.

In the 6th minute, Liverpool's new blood, Dutch attacker Cody Gakpo, placed a right-footed shot to Chelsea but it went over.

Havertz missed another chance for Chelsea to score as his left-footed shot to Thiago Silva's assist missed the Liverpool goal.

Gakpo sent the ball over the opposition’s goal and missed another chance in the 20th minute.

Chelsea's Lewis Hall missed the goal with his left-footed shot in the 22nd minute.

Conor Gallagher in the 25th minute, Benoit Badiashile in the 32nd minute and Havertz in the 33rd minute also missed chances to bring the lead to the Blues.

Gakpo, Thiago and Mohamed Salah missed several chances to score for the hosts and the first half ended goalless.

In the first minutes of the second half, Gakpo tried to score several times for Liverpool but his efforts were in vain.

Gallagher, Hakim Ziyech and Mykhailo Mudryk also missed chances for Chelsea between the 55th and 65th minutes.

Both sides failed to put one in and the match ended level.

It was Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp's 1000th game of his managerial career. The struggling Liverpool are at the 8th spot with 30 points in Premier League.

Last season's UEFA Champions League qualifier Chelsea are also struggling this season. They placed 10th with 29 points in the standings.
