ISTANBUL (AA) - Liverpool defeated Chelsea to clinch the Carabao Cup on penalties after the game finished 0-0 after extra time.
Neither team was able to break the deadlock for 90 minutes so the match went into extra time.
There were no goals in extra time, and the winner was decided by the penalty shootout, as Reds' beat Chelsea 11-10 at Wembley stadium.
With this title, Liverpool have won Carabao Cup (English League Cup) for a record-breaking ninth time (1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1995, 2001, 2003 and 2012).
"The Carabao Cup honour is the fifth major trophy of Klopp’s managerial tenure, adding to the Reds’ Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup titles under the German," Liverpool said in a statement.
