ANKARA (AA) – After months of delay, London this December is finally set to host this year's world heavyweight title match in boxing.
"The time has come! Kubrat Pulev faces Anthony Joshua on December 12th this year in a long-awaited match for the world heavyweight boxing title," Pulev said on Facebook on Monday.
Called "The Cobra," Bulgarian boxer Pulev, 39, said that the event's date and venue can no longer be changed as both athletes signed a contract for the fight.
The Pulev-Joshua match was originally scheduled for June 20 in the UK but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Joshua, the 30-year-old British Olympic gold medalist, reclaimed the heavyweight title after beating Andy Ruiz Jr. in a rematch in Saudi Arabia last December.
The fight is slated for Dec. 12.
