ANKARA (AA) - The Payload Asia magazine has named Turkish Cargo -- a division of national flag-carrier Turkish Airlines -- as the "Overall Carrier of the Year" in the Customer’s Choice category, the national flag carrier announced on Monday.
"Along with strong growth in September and having recorded an increase of 27 percent in its freight and mail volume for a total of 810 thousand [810,000] tons for the period January-September 2017, Turkish Cargo has once more been awarded by the international air cargo sector," the airline said in a written statement.
Turkish Airlines noted that the most prestigious award of the year at the 33rd annual Payload Asia Awards was attributed to Turkish Cargo for its substantial growth.
Payload Asia Awards are given after input from readers, air cargo customers and business partners of the Payload Asia magazine, a member of the Federation of Asia Pacific Aircargo Association (FAPAA).
Turkish Cargo provides 16 dedicated freighter aircraft to 72 destinations in 60 countries along with Turkish Airlines network coverage of 300 destinations worldwide offering belly cargo capacity of 313 aircraft, according to the company.
