Magnitude 4.5 earthquake strikes Azerbaijan near Turkish border

Quake in Kelbajar province at depth of nearly 4.35 miles, say Turkish disaster management agency

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Kelbajar province in western Azerbaijan at 2.01 a.m. local time Saturday, according to Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

The epicenter was recorded near the city of Kelbajar, located near the border with Türkiye, at a depth of 7 kilometers (4.35 miles), said AFAD.

The epicenter was approximately 113.75 kilometers (70.6 miles) from the Aralik district of Igdir province in eastern Türkiye, it said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
