ISTANBUL (AA) – Malaysia on Friday “unreservedly” condemned Israeli extremist settlers who stormed the Al Aqsa Mosque on Sep. 24 and 25.
“The orchestrated incursion was yet another deliberate act by the Israeli regime clearly aimed to challenge the legal and political status quo of Jerusalem and Al Haram Al Sharif,” said the Malaysian foreign ministry in a statement.
The statement also urged the global community to stop the Israeli government responsible for their ongoing aggressive actions, which are exacerbating the already severe conditions in the Palestinian territories under occupation.
“The UN Security Council, in particular, must live up to its Charter-mandated responsibility and censure the regime to halt immediately all acts of provocation and aggression in the interest of peace and stability in the region,” said the statement.
The ministry said they stand by the principle that Palestinians deserve the right to an independent and sovereign state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.
