ANKARA (AA) – MotoGP on Thursday announced that the Malaysian Grand Prix has been canceled for the second year in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The race, scheduled from Oct. 22 to Oct. 24 at the Sepang International Circuit, will be replaced by a Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy on the same dates.
“The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting entry restrictions for Malaysia oblige the cancellation of the event,” read a MotoGP statement.
The name of the race in Misano “will be announced in due course,” it added.
