ANKARA (AA) – English Premier League title contenders Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw at home by mid-table Chelsea as Rodri scored a late equalizer on Saturday.
In the 42nd minute, former Man City winger Raheem Sterling scored the opening goal for Chelsea to shock the crowd at Manchester's Etihad Stadium.
Sterling was a Manchester City member in 2015-2022.
Manchester City waited at least 40 minutes for an equalizer.
Spanish midfielder Rodri salvaged a point after a powerful left-footed strike in the box in the 83rd minute.
The points were shared after a 1-1 draw, but Man City fell behind in the title race.
Liverpool are leading the Premier League table with 57 points in 25 matches.
Second-place Arsenal have 55 points after the Gunners hammered Burnley 5-0 on Saturday. Arsenal star Bukayo Saka struck twice at Burnley.
Manchester City were dropped to the third spot as they have 53 points in 24 games.
Aston Villa are now fourth with 49 points after a 2-1 win at Fulham on Saturday.
Tottenham Hotspur, who are vying for a spot in the league's top four, were stunned by Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 in London.
Tottenham are fifth with 47 points.
