ISTANBUL (AA) - Manchester City midfielder Leroy Sane will be out until February with a knee ligament damage.
In a news conference on Friday, the team's coach Pep Guardiola said Sane will not be able to play for at least six months.
The 23-year-old German left winger suffered damage to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool last weekend.
“Hopefully, in February or March, he will come back with us. He played all of pre-season and in the Community Shield Final, he played. It’s incredibly bad news. In three pre-seasons," Guardiola said, according to an official statement on the website.
“He is a young player and hopefully, he will recover well," he added.
Sane is a Manchester City star playing for the English club since August 2016.
Last season he scored 16 goals and made 18 assists in 47 appearances for Man City.
