ISTANBUL (AA) - Manchester City clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday in week nine of the English Premier League, with Erling Haaland’s early goal proving decisive.
Playing at the Etihad Stadium, Haaland scored in the fifth minute, capitalizing on a perfectly timed assist from Matheus Luiz Nunes. The early strike held up through the match, securing City the three points.
The victory keeps Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table with 23 points, though Liverpool, in second place, has a game in hand.
Pep Guardiola’s team also extended its Premier League unbeaten streak to 32 games, a run dating back to a defeat against Aston Villa last December.
