During the weekend, the several league leaders in Europe's top 5 football leagues, the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie Aa, German Bundesliga and French Ligue 1, changed.
- AC Milan lost, Inter Milan take over top spot in Serie A
In the Italian Serie A, Inter Milan defeated Torino 3-0. The goals of the Milan team were netted by Marcus Thuram in the 59th minute, Lautaro Martinez in the 67th and 95th minutes.
AC Milan, on the other hand, lost 1-0 to Juventus with Manuel Locatelli's goal in the 63rd minute, in the match in which they played most of the match with 10-men after Malick Thiaw received a red card in the 40th minute. Losing for the second time this season, Milan left the leadership seat to Inter.
The reigning champions Napoli beat Verona 3-1. The goals that brought Napoli the victory were scored by Matteo Politano in the 27th minute and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 43rd and 55th minutes.
Fiorentina will host Empoli, while Udinese will host Lecce on Monday.
At the end of the week 9 of Serie A, the leaders Inter have 22 points, followed by Milan with 21 points, Juventus with 20 points.
- Manchester City take over the top spot in Premier League
In the English Premier League, reigning champions Manchester City beat Brighton Hove and Albion 2-1. The Citizens' goals came from Julian Alvarez in the 7th minute and Erling Haaland in the 19th minute. The guest team's only goal was netted by Ansu Fati in the 73rd minute.
Arsenal managed to settle for a 2-2 draw with Chelsea, coming back from 2-0 behind. Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk scored for Chelsea, while Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard netted the goals of Arsenal.
In the "Merseyside" derby, Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 with goals of Egyptian star Muhammed Salah in the 75th and 97th minutes.
If Tottenham beat Fulham on Monday, they will regain the top seat of the league standings.
At the end of the week 9, Manchester City is the leader with a goal difference among the teams with 21 points, while Arsenal are just behind. Liverpool are at the third spot and Tottenham are at the fourth, with one more game to play, both teams with 20 points each.
- La Liga leaders Real Madrid settle for a draw
In week 10 of Spanish La Liga, leaders Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Sevilla. The home team took the lead 1-0 with David Alaba's own goal in the 74th minute. Los Merengues saved one point with Daniel Carvajal's goal in the 78th minute.
This season's surprise contenders Girona continued their race for the top by defeating Almeria 5-2.
Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0 with 17-year-old Marc Guiu's goal in the 80th minute. Guiu, latest La Masia product, scored within merely 30 seconds after he was subbed in his first professional match with Barcelona.
Atletico Madrid beat Celta Vigo 3-0 with French star player Antoine Griezmann's hat-trick.
Real Madrid are at the top of La Liga with 25 points and a goal difference, followed by Girona with the same points, Barcelona with 24 points and Atletico Madrid with 22 points.
- Bayer Leverkusen continue winning streak in Bundesliga
In week 8 of the German Bundesliga, the league leaders Bayer Leverkusen continued their winning streak with 2-1 win against Wolfsburg, with goals of Jeremie Frimpong and Alejandro Grimaldo.
Stuttgart beat Union Berlin 3-0, while Bayern Munich, which will face Galatasaray on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, beat Mainz 3-1. The goals of the guest team were scored by Kingsley Coman in the 11th minute, Harry Kane in the 16th minute, and Leon Goretzka in the 59th minute.
Borussia Dortmund beat Werder Bremen 1-0.
In the Bundesliga, undefeated Bayer Leverkusen are at the top with 22 points, Stuttgart follow them with 21 points, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund placed third and fourth, with 20 points each.
- Monaco are at the top of Ligue 1
In week 9 of the French Ligue 1, Monaco continued their leadership by beating Metz 2-1. Metz took the lead with Lamine Camara's goal in the 4th minute but Monaco managed to win the match with Aleksandr Golovin's goals in the 42nd and 55th minutes.
Nice beat Olympic Marseille 1-0 with a goal from Evann Guessand.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) beat Strasbourg 3-0 with goals of Kylian Mbappe in the 10th minute, Carlos Soler in the 31st minute and Fabian Ruiz in the 77th minute.
In the Ligue 1, Monaco are the leaders with 20 points, Nice placed second with 19 points, PSG are at the third with 18 points, and Lille are at the fourth spot with 15 points.
