ANKARA (AA) – The reigning UEFA Champions League winners, English club Manchester City will face the defending CONMEBOL Libertadores champions, Brazilian Serie A side Fluminese in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup final on Friday.
The third-place match will be played between Japanese team Urawa Red Diamonds and Egyptian side Al Ahly at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at 1430GMT, while the final game will be played at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah at 1800GMT on Friday.
Both teams aim to bag their maiden trophy in the 20th edition of the competition.
Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid is the most successful club in the competition's history with five trophies. They are also the reigning champions.
Brazilian club Corinthians bagged the trophy twice, while other Brazilian teams, Internacional and Sao Paulo, bagged the title once each.
The FIFA Club World Cup is an annual football competition, which is played among the winners of that year's AFC Champions League (Asia), CAF Champions League (Africa), CONCACAF Champions Cup (North, Central America and Caribbean), CONMEBOL Libertadores (South America), OFC Champions League (Oceania), and UEFA Champions League (Europe), along with the host nation's national champions.
