ANKARA (AA) - Ten-man Manchester United won against Crystal Palace 2-1 in a Saturday English Premier League match as the Red Devils' Casemiro was shown a red card for his violent behavior on opponent.
In the 7th minute at the Old Trafford, Manchester United scored the opener when their Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes converted the penalty.
Manchester United's English star Marcus Rashford fired a right-footed shot to double the gap in the 62nd minute.
Both team players got fiery after a tackle as Manchester United's Brazilian midfielder Casemiro was shown a red card in the 70th minute for grabbing Crystal Palace's Will Hughes by his neck in the scramble.
Six minutes later Crystal Palace narrowed the gap as Jeffrey Schlupp shot from the center of the box to beat goalkeeper David de Gea.
Manchester United took a 2-1 win to approach to archrivals Manchester City in the league standings.
The Red Devils have 42 points in 21 matches to move to the third position in the Premier League.
Manchester City are second with 45 points, and they will visit Tottenham Hotspur in a league match in London.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Liverpool 3-0 at home, and fourth-placed Newcastle United were held to a 1-1 draw with West Ham United at Newcastle's St. James' Park.
