Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has joined Italian Serie A newcomers Como 1907, the Italian side announced Sunday.
The 31-year-old Frenchman has signed a two-year contract with an option to extend it for one year, according to a statement.
"Raphael is a special player, and his signing is proof of the ambition we have for this club. He has won so much in his career and the experience he has gained in two of the best leagues in the world cannot be underestimated. I can’t wait to start working with him," said Como head coach Cesc Fabregas, who is also a former Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea player.
Varane, who is also a former Real Madrid player, bagged four UEFA Champions League trophies, four FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups and three Spanish La Liga titles with Los Merengues, along with the 2024 FA Cup with Manchester United.
He also helped France clinch the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2021 UEFA Nations League title with five goals in 93 appearances.
