ISTANBUL (AA) – Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez will miss this weekend's Moto Grand Prix race of Circuit of Americas due to a hand injury.
"I have just had a CAT scan and it was confirmed that the bone is still in the process of healing," Marquez tweeted.
"We have decided not to take any risks and therefore I won't be able to ride in Austin. I will continue working and rehabilitating as I have been doing so far to be able to get back on the bike as soon as possible," he added.
The 30-year-old Spaniard suffered a hand injury in the season-opening Portuguese Grand Prix at Portimao after a collision with favorite Miguel Oliveira.
The six-time MotoGP winner also missed the Argentine race on April 2.
Marquez won the MotoGP world titles in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
