ANKARA (AA) - A French football Ligue 1 match between Nice and Olympique Marseille was suspended Sunday evening in the second half over a pitch invasion.
Home team Nice were leading 1-0 as Danish forward Kasper Dolberg scored in the 49th minute at the Allianz Riviera.
But the match was suspended in the 75th minute after Nice fans stormed the pitch in response to Marseille midfielder Dimitri Payet’s decision to throw a bottle back into the crowd after being hit in the back with it by a Nice supporter.
Payet seemed furious when the bottle hit him while he was preparing to take a corner.
The 34-year-old then threw it back into the Nice stands, which angered the fans.
Fans went on to throw objects on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez rushed to the corner flag to kick the ball into the stands.
Several Nice fans went crazy and stormed the pitch. A Nice fan kicked Payet as well.
Both teams left the pitch and the match was suspended.
