ANKARA (AA) - Kylian Mbappe refused to pose in front of an alcoholic beverage brand logo, Budweiser, according to the French press.
The reports say that the French star does not want to be associated with Budweiser, one of the 2022 FIFA World Cup sponsors, and deliberately hid the brand's name in "Man of the match" photoshoots.
FIFA got a ban ready for the French Football Federation (FFF) due to Mbappe's absence from the post-match media duties, which were mandatory.
Mbappe stated that he had nothing personal against the journalists; he "just needed to focus" on the competition.
The 23-year-old added that the French Federation should not be paying for his personal decision and he will undertake the fine.
The French superstar has played with 5 goals and 2 assists in 4 games so far in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
