Real Madrid regular Benzema believes 'it's just a matter of time'

ANKARA (AA) - Real Madrid's French forward Karim Benzema on Saturday assured that his compatriot at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Kylian Mbappe will join the Spanish football powerhouse in the future.

"He (Mbappe) said it himself. He wants to see something else. He will play for Real (Madrid) one day. I do not know when. But he will come. It's just a matter of time," Benzema, 33, told French sports daily L'Equipe on Saturday.

In late August, PSG have rejected a €160-million ($188-million) bid by Real Madrid for Mbappe.

Mbappe is still with Paris Saint-Germain but the 22-year-old's future at the French club is uncertain.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner Mbappe's contract will expire on June 30, 2022.

PSG's sporting director Leonardo de Araujo previously said that they want to extend his deal.

According to the German football data website Transfermarkt, Mbappe has a €160 million market value.

Mbappe, a high-scoring forward, joined PSG in 2017.

Known for his pace, dribbling skills, technique, and finishing ability, Mbappe scored 136 goals in 181 matches for Paris.

He won four French Ligue 1 titles -- three with PSG and one with Monaco.
