Mexican Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez left his team Red Bull on Wednesday before the start of the 2025 season in March.

"Gracias por todo Checo (Thanks for everything Checo). After four successful seasons together, Sergio Perez and Oracle Red Bull Racing have reached an agreement to part ways for 2025," Red Bull wrote on X.

Perez said, "I'm incredibly grateful for the past four years with Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team," adding that it was "an unforgettable experience" to drive for the team. "It has also been an honor to race alongside Max as a teammate all these years and to share in our success.”

It is unclear who Perez will race with next season.

Perez, 34, was the partner of four-time F1 champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull from 2021 - 2024.

The Dutch racer secured world titles in those years.

"A special thank you to the fans around the world, and especially to the Mexican fans for your unwavering support every day. We’ll meet again soon. And remember… never give up!," Perez added.

Perez and Verstappen helped Red Bull win the 2022 and 2023 Constructors' title in the Formula 1 but in 2024 Red Bull failed to secure the championship.

Last season, McLaren won the Constructors’ title for the first time since 1998.

Verstappen, with 437 points, was crowned the 2024 Formula 1 champion.

Perez, who has won six Grands Prix in 14 seasons in the F1, was 285 points behind Verstappen in a poor campaign in 2024.

The Mexican driver had 152 points and finished eighth in the standings.

Perez has not won a race since the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The 2025 Formula 1 season will start with the Australian Grand Prix on March 16 in Melbourne.
