ISTANBUL (AA) – Mexico saw a trade surplus of more than $4.2 billion in December 2023, the country's statistical authority revealed on Friday.
The figure is a significant increase from a $983 million surplus recorded in December 2022, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) figures.
In 2023, however, the total trade balance showed a deficit of approximately $5.4 billion.
That amount is also a significant recovery from almost $27 billion trade deficit recorded in 2022.
In December 2023, the value of merchandise exports reached $49.2 billion -- $46.6 million of non-oil exports and $2.6 billion of oil exports.
The value of imports in December was $45 billion, according to INEGI figures.
