ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's retail sales increased 0.1% in August on a monthly basis, the country's statistical authority, INEGI, said Wednesday.
The figure was lower than estimates of 0.2%, following a gain of 0.7% in July.
In August, in wholesale commercial companies, real income rose 0.9% and employed personnel increased 0.2%, while real average salaries jumped 1%, it added.
Retail sales fell 0.8% compared to the same month last year.
The expectation for the annual figure was to show a decrease of 0.4%, after increasing 0.6% in July year-on-year.
Annually, real income fell 0.8% in August, while employed personnel fell 0.3% and real average salaries increased 7.6%, INEGI said in a statement.
