ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's unemployment rate declined to 2.5% in February, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
While the figure marked its lowest level since March last year, it also came lower than the market expectations of 2.8%.
The economically active population was 60.9 million in February, or 917,000 more than during the same month of 2023, INEGI said Wednesday in a statement.
In February, 59.4 million people, or 97.5%, were employed among the economically active population -- 1.1 million more compared to the same month in 2023.
The unemployed population was 1.5 million in February, while the unemployment rate was also 2.5% of the economically active population.
