ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's unemployment rate declined to 2.7% in June on an unadjusted seasonal basis, according to data Thursday from the country’s statistical institute.
The figure was lower than expectations of 3% -- a decrease from 2.9% in May.
The economically active population was 60.3 million people in June, which was 859,000 higher than the same month last year, according to National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) figures.
In June, 58.7 million people, or 97.3%, were employed among the economically active population. This was 1.3 million more compared to the same month in 2022.
The unemployed population was 1.6 million people in June, figures show.
In June, at a monthly rate and with seasonally adjusted figures, the unemployment rate decreased 0.3 percentage points to 2.7%, according to INEGI.
